Continuing from where we left off yesterday, about Jesus emptying Himself (as found in Phil 2 - by the way, those are a few of my favourite verses, and think they have such depth that we don't often perceive)... I personally think that although He is God, at that time in history He put aside His God bit entirely. He became completely human. No. He did not become not-God, but He did not tap into it. Rather, he chose to be intricately involved in God and allow the Father and the Spirit to be intricately involved in Him, and thus led His life.

Well, in essence, i don't think He used His godly powers to lead the holy life He led. Rather, He depended on God for that. In that He showed us and made a way for us to be like that. To be entirely dependent on God. And that, i think, is the secret to being like Jesus.

I think you hit it exactly with your last two sentences: To be entirely dependent on God. And that, I think, is the secret to being like Jesus.

In that we are empty, we become dependent. In that we are weak, we are made strong in Him.
